Coronavirus. You must have heard of this term by now. It’s becoming unavoidable…quite literally. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been thousands of confirmed Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in the United States alone. The probability of catching the virus in the U.S. is increasing and it is not too early to prepare for it.
On the work front for advisors, this may mean more virtual meetings and completely shifting online. Having a full home office setup is start. Hardware to consider are:
monitors
a printer
a phone system (VOIP can be used from any location)
camera
etc.
It is best to be completely cloud based and not have any onsite servers. However, becoming a “cloud based office” also means making sure to have a good cybersecurity game plan in place and taking steps toward (or consulting with RIA service providers) on preventing potential breaches. Technology can help greatly during a time like this and can help advisors to continue working in the best interest of their clients.
